Turkish President Erdogan says Turkey signals "final warning" on Syria
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Friday issued what he said was a “final warning” to those who would endanger Turkey’s borders, saying Ankara was determined to focus its attention on Syrian Kurdish fighters east of the Euphrates.- Reuters
Turkish President Erdogan and other Turkish senior officials have been making announcements on Manbij and the east of the Euphrates for months.
Erdogan, who was speaking to a group of provincial leaders of his AK Party in Ankara, said Turkey would focus its attention east of the Euphrates in Syria, rather than the Manbij area, citing the presence of the Syrian Kurdish YPG militia. Turkey regards the YPG as a terrorist group.
"Now they are digging trenches around Manbij, all right they are preparing their own graves. Apparently they won't leave us much work. " President Erdogan said today.
President Erdoğan: “The U.S. has turned the agreement we reached on Manbij into a tool for stalling us. Instead of stalling there, we are determined to turn our focus and energy to the east of the Euphrates.”
“We will not allow anyone to engage in acts right beside our borders that would pose a threat to us” Erdogan said.
President Erdoğan:"They promised us that they would leave Manbij within 90 days but they didn't. We will do whatever is necessary" said on October 12, 2018.
Turkish Defense Minister Akar also commented on the trenches that have been dug by the YPG/PKK terrorists around Manbij: "We delivered our warnings to the US authorites, and we also took our own precautions."
Turkish Defense Minister Akar: "The Joint training of the elements of Turkey and the US armed forces in Manbij regarding joint patrol activities has begun as of today." said on October 9, 2018.
Terrorist organization YPG/PKK has dug kilometer-long ditches and trenches that surround Manbij city center, Syria. The network of the trenches is about 30 kilometers long. Photos have been obtained by Anadolu Agency through satellite.
