The Turkish Defense Ministry announced Tuesday the start of the construction of the infrastructure of the joint operations center for the management of the safe zone in northern Syria, indicating that the construction of the center continues in the northeastern state of Urfa.

“The U.S. and Turkish delegation has begun work on the construction of the infrastructure of the Joint Operations Center in the northeastern state of Urfa,” the Turkish Defense Ministry said in a statement.”.

“The establishment of the Joint Operations Centre to start work continues without any delay,” the ministry added.

A few days ago, Washington and Ankara agreed to establish a joint operations center in Turkey to establish a safe zone in northern Syria, as a safe passage way for the return of displaced persons to their homes.

“A joint operations center with the United States of America will be formed as soon as possible to establish, coordinate and manage the safe zone,” the Turkish Defense Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

“An understanding has been reached to take the necessary measures to turn the safe area into a peace corridor and return Syrian refugees to their country,” the Turkish defence added.

The U.S. Embassy in Ankara issued a joint statement confirming the agreement of the defense ministries of the two countries to “accelerate the implementation of all measures to address Turkey's security concerns and concerns,” continuing: “A joint operations center will be set up as soon as possible to coordinate and manage the safe zone together.”

“The safe zone will serve as a peace corridor, and all efforts will be made to repatriate Syrian displaced persons,” the joint statement added.
