Trump does not want war with Iran: Iran's Zarif

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said in an interview with the American television channel NBC that US President Donald Trump does not want a war with Iran, but his surroundings would not "oppose" this.

“I don’t think that President Trump wants war, but I’m convinced that his entourage wouldn't mind,” Zarif said.

He added that Trump is under pressure, but the attempts of the environment to influence his decision "in the end, will not succeed, because good sense will prevail.”

“Iran is a big, proud country, and we will not take carelessly of a military attack,” Zarif said.

Iran may reconsider its decision to enrich uranium "within a few hours," said Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif.

"This can be reviewed within a few hours," Zarif said in an interview with NBC .

On the question of the TV channel, does Iran not fear that it is “playing with fire”, Zarif objected that it was the United States playing with fire, having left the nuclear deal.

"We had an agreement, it included measures if one of the parties begins to violate it ... We are free to stop partial execution of the (transaction),” said Zarif.

"We will not develop nuclear weapons. If we wanted to develop nuclear weapons, we would do it," the Iranian Foreign Minister said.

According to him, Iran does not want to comply with the U.S. demands that the deal be renegotiated.

"If you start to give in to illegal demands, there will be no end to it,” said Mr. Zarif.

He was also asked why U.S. President Donald Trump said he had decided to strike Iran in retaliation for the downed U.S. drone, but then changed his mind.

"My understanding is that reason has triumphed, people have come to the conclusion that this will not be a limited operation,” said Mr. Zarif.

This explanation was also suggested by Trump, who said that such a strike would have killed people, and retaliation against Iran would have been disproportionate.
