Iranian ambassador to UN accuses the US of 'psychological warfare'

An Iranian official commented on the New York Times report that the National Security Council discussed plans to send 120,000 troops to the region if the interests of the United States were attacked by Iran.

"This is a psychological war from our point of view, we have nothing to do with creating conflict in our region because no one will benefit from such a conflict Majid Takht Rawanji, Iran's ambassador to the United Nations, said in an exclusive interview on CNN.

"Does Iran have any plans to target either directly or through its allies in Iraq or Lebanon to attack American interests or American soldiers?” Rawanji replied.

"We have the best relations with our neighbor Iraq. We do not interfere in Iraqi affairs. We have good relations with this country,” he said.

"There are limited people behind narrow agendas in the US capital, Washington, or some of the countries in the region,” he said.

"These are all bogus intelligence based on narrow agendas that are being pursued by specific people in Washington and in our region. They are making these allegations in order to create a false story.”

US President Donald Trump responded to the New York Times report and a plan whether Washington is preparing to send 125,000 troops to the Middle East, saying: "Can I do that now, of course, but we have not yet planned to do so?” he said.
