Iran condemns Germany and USA
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Behram Kasimi released a statement in which he expresses regret over the German governments decision to cancel flight permissions of MahanAir. Kasimi also condemned the extended detention period of Iranian state TV presenter Merziyah Hasimi in the United States.
Kasimi, who described the German decision as “hasty and inexplicable” said that this decision was “likely caused by misinformation from states who are uncomfortable with the relationship between the two countries”. Previously, Germany justified the decision by referencing to activities of Iranian intelligence in Europe and wars Iran is involved in.
The statement also informed that the Swiss ambassador to Iran Markus Leitner, who is responsible of protecting US interests in Iran, was summoned to the ministry. Iran expressed its objections about the extended detention period of Iranian state TV presenter Merziyah Hasimi.
Hasimi is the news presenter of the Iranian “Press TV” broadcasting in English. US police had arrested the black woman last week in Missouri´s St.Louis where she was visiting her family. Previous reports said that during the arrest, her hijab was forcibly removed and she was denied halal food in the detention center
