Greek MFA's Hard Drivers Malfunctioned, Unable To Recover
Glitch in Greece foreign ministry's 'hard drive' causes all electronic correspondence from 2005 (last 13 years) to disappear, unable to be recovered.
A hard-drive malfunction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs resulted in the loss of all the Ministry's e-mail from 2005 onwards.
This hard drive was never maintained, and there was no copy of the files.
With a budget of EUR 15,000, the damage would have been avoided as the necessary maintenance had been carried out two days after the hard disk failure. The Foreign Ministry approved a budget of 150,000 euros and bought new equipment.
Also, the attempt to retrieve emails was abandoned due to high costs.
